The native solitary bee Melissodes thelypodii thelypodii Cockerell was observed to harvest pollen from panicles of the anemophilous plant Amaranthus palmeri Watson in southeastern Arizona. Pure Amaranthus pollen loads were removed by females foraging at this plant, suggesting floral fidelity and this bee’s potential value for commercial pollination of the related grain amaranths.
